Memo: Report on Affirmative Action at Villanova (1983)
Title
Memo: Report on Affirmative Action at Villanova (1983)
Description
Following the reports of complaints from the West Philadelphia Branch of the N.A.A.C.P., Dr. Edward L. Collymore completed a report on the effectiveness of Villanova’s affirmative action policies in employment. Collymore’s report highlights employment data in 1976, 1979, and 1981 clearly showing an underrepresentation of Black employees at Villanova. In the report Collymore states that Villanova’s policies on affirmative action are “not working,” and recommends a system for holding those responsible for hiring accountable to university and federal policies.
