Deed, John Rudolph to Jonathan Vodges (1836)
Title
Deed, John Rudolph to Jonathan Vodges (1836)
Description
Deed giving John Rudolph's properties to his trustee, Jonathan Vodges. As this was before Pennsylvania’s Married Women’s Property Act of 1848, John Rudolph left his real estate to a trustee. Traditionally, Jane Rudolph should have received one-third of John Rudolph’s estate, however, Rudolph specified that she instead receive an annual payment of $1,000 as long as she remained unmarried. John Rudolph left his properties and his businesses in trust with the stipulation that his widow be paid $1,000 per year.
Rudolph gave directions for paying off his debts, and how funds should be distributed between his wife, and his children and grandchildren from a previous marriage. Rudolph describes Belle Air and numerous other properties but does not mention William Moulden's name.
