Memo: Affirmative Action Posture
Title
Memo: Affirmative Action Posture
Description
In a letter to President Driscoll, Edward Collymore presents a plan to amend the role of the Affirmative Action Officer at Villanova. Collymore first describes the various tasks he has undertaken as Affirmative Action Officer within his role as the Director of the Office of Social Programs. He then suggests the responsibilities of the Affirmative Action Officer be split amongst various Villanova personnel, “such as someone in Personnel and someone in the Academic area.”
Collymore continues his letter by noting accomplishments and future necessary steps for the Affirmative Action Program. “It will also be necessary,” Collymore noted, “to set up a monitoring procedure to be used to insure that what we set out to do is done.” The letter closes with the belief that the need for a large affirmative action office should not be necessary, “if individuals in key areas work on the necessary affirmative action material in their specific area and with their full cooperation.”
