Affirmative Action Plan and Implementation (1986)
Title
Affirmative Action Plan and Implementation (1986)
Description
In a February 17, 1986 report to President Driscoll, Dr. Edward L. Collymore discussed “some of the problems and weaknesses… and the general attitude towards the University’s affirmative action commitment by the University community.”
In his report, Dr. Collymore notes four problems and lists his solutions to these issues. The four problems are:
1.) A lack of commitment to affirmative action policies within lower level hiring staff
2.) “The insensitive attitude of many members of the University community toward the plight of their female and minority counterparts”
3.) A lack of participation by the personnel department
4.) Poor organization of advertising hurts affirmative action efforts
